Dr. Paul Eck and Mineral Balancing
Dr. Paul C. Eck (1925-1996)
Dr. Paul C. Eck was a physician and brilliant researcher and clinician who lived in Phoenix AZ most of his life. Altogether, Dr Eck spent 35 years doing mineral and biochemical research in the areas of nutrition and biochemistry. In addition, he spent a lifetime of private research covering hundreds of technical books and thousands of research papers. Dr Eck is the founder of Analytical Research Laboratories in Phoenix AZ, USA.
Dr. Eck drew on the research of at least two dozen scientists in developing nutritional balancing science, which he sometimes called “mineral balancing and “the new nutrition. he also had a deep appreciation of quite esoteric concepts of health such as teleology, the study of healing intent, and cybernetics, the science of communication and control.
Where others saw hair testing mainly as a way to detect toxic metals, Dr. Eck applied to this finding all of his knowledge of the Stress Theory of Disease (Hans Selye), Metabolic Typing (George Watson, MD), Autonomic nervous System balancing (Melvin Page, DDS), and more. From there, he developed Nutritional Balancing Science, also called “The Science of Human Energy”, a new system of healing specifically for the needs of the 21st century as a way of balancing the body allowing it to heal itself.Dr Eck found that nutrition was perhaps the most basic and powerful ways to increase enzyme activity or enzyme strength in the body, This, in turn, often furthers healing more than any other single factor.Other sciences use the word vital force to describe the life force that does all of the healing.
Minerals and their vital place in nutrition. Dr. Eck placed them first. Minerals, he said, are too often ignored when they need and deserve much more attention. He found that Mineral deficiencies, bio-unavailability and excesses lead to most of our health problems. Minerals cannot be made in the body and must come from outside, unlike hormones, many vitamins and some amino acids.
The critical role of toxic metals in human health. Dr. Eck understood how metals can replace vital or preferred minerals in the enzyme binding sites. He also saw from hair analysis research how they interact with the sympathetic nervous system and the overall mineral balance of the body. This is far beyond just viewing them as poisons to be dangerously chelated out, which is the way most doctors view them.
Copper imbalance. Much of what is known clinically about copper imbalance is due to Dr. Eck’s research. He found it fascinating how one mineral could affect people in such varied and profound ways as causing birth defects to aggravating cancers. Bio-unavailable copper, along with toxic metals, is also directly involved with candida or yeast problems, migraine headaches , PMS and more.
Adrenal Burnout Syndrome. Burnt out with low energy. The causes, symptoms and correction of this very common health condition today were elaborated by Dr. Eck over forty years ago and still work today!
Understanding emotions and behavior from a hair analysis. Dr. Eck found startling connections between mental health and specific minerals, the stages of stress, the oxidation types and the levels, ratios and patterns on a hair analysis.
This has far reaching applications in the fields of mental health, education, child development, criminal justice, child protection and other areas of social as well as medical sciences.
Measuring parameters of the stress response. He realized that hair analysis patterns were stress patterns of the body, rather than conditions to be diagnosed. This is quite a breakthrough that unifies medicine and the stress theory of disease.
Trends or research associations versus diagnoses. Dr. Eck made use of trends or tendencies on hair mineral analyses. This is very different from diagnosing disease, and often far more useful in clinical practice. These trends can often predict future illnesses with amazing accuracy, and can do so years before problems are revealed on other medical tests.
